The task
A hotel sells nights before the guest has ever set foot inside. The site has to show within seconds what it feels like to wake up there, and bring the booking as close as possible to that first impression.
RHEINWERK doesn’t exist. The concept shows how we would build the website for a hotel with its own attitude, from the first image to the booking confirmation.
The idea
Concrete, black and a strong Cologne red. A wide, bold typeface carries the page, big numbers and hard colour blocks give it structure. No hotel beige, no interchangeable lobby.
Set in Archivo, a wide grotesque, with Space Mono for prices, dates and small labels.
Through the site

What’s inside
- Booking bar in the first view. Arrival, departure, guests and room, without having to look for it.
- Booking with live price. Nights times rate, with input checks and a confirmation.
- Room gallery. Five categories from studio to penthouse, to swipe through sideways.
- 3D architecture. A concrete block that moves with your cursor.
- Bar, kitchen, gym, sauna. Each area with its own look and its own images.
- Location and directions. Real Cologne coordinates, routes by train and car.
- Built for phones. Its own navigation and layout for small screens.
- Accessible. Works with a keyboard, good contrast, calm with reduced motion.
On the phone
Most guests look on the go first. That’s why every page works as well on the phone as on the desktop.
